The rubber washer looks like a common size but when I get what looks like an identical washer at a local plumbing shop and install it (very easy to do, by the way), the leak still occurs. This results in water flooding the area around the valve instead of going to the sprinklers. The rubber washer ends up cracking/splitting and then allows significant water to flow past the check valve when the unit is operating. Unfortunately, the rubber washer that is part of the check valve in the backflow preventer has not proven durable on half of the Toro valves that I'm using.
